Is there a perfect time to blog?

When do you usually blog? Is there a fixed time? Do you plan the topics of your posts beforehand and publish them in a predetermined order?

Some days ago, when thinking about blogging and the frequency of posts, I wondered how many of the frequent bloggers organize themselves, or if they even do so…

For me, blogging starts with an idea, or an event, something that strikes me in some way. This is when I usually think: How could I tell this to others? This question is already very near to thinking about how to blog the idea or the topic. This process can develop (at least for me) at any time of the day. Sometimes I write a post in the morning, save it as a draft, and complete it in the evening or at night, just as I feel like doing. The possibility to save posts as drafts and to continue editing later does make blogging and publishing your content very comfortable. You can rethink the post and continue the next day or night…

When do you usually blog? Is there a perfect time for it?

The life before WordPress

Everybody of us someday discovered WordPress for blogging, then decided to download it and install it for blogging. Some of you might even have chosen to run the entire website on WordPress, making use of the software as a kind of CMS. But what happened before?

I can remember some days back I had one of my first ugly websites with an iframe. The home site contained what was supposed to be a blog entry, but I did not actually call it “blog”. When I needed to implement comments I first tried to install some service whose name I cannot remember. It did not work. Then I chose Haloscan, which was pretty easy. Back then, all the techniques related to blogging nowadays were pretty much unkown. No software, no posting, no visual editor, no blogroll. And look at how things are going now. Nobody is obliged to squish content into Iframes for easy publishing :-)

Thank you Google

I think it is so exciting to have a look at my visitor stats and see how people actually get to my blog. One possibility that is used often is Google search. And the diversity of search terms just made my day. Have a look at some of them:

  • the flu, poem
  • chocolate chess set
  • being ambitious
  • aerobic lesson free

These are some of them, and some of my readers might also remember the posts relating to it. These terms make me think about how the readership following these searches perceive my posts and whether they found what they came for. It might be obvious even from the search result in Google that Islaperdida.net is not an aerobic studio and therefore does not offer any courses for fitness. Nor is this site producing any chocolate or chess sets. This all might be clear from the list of search results. Are my readers content with what they found here?

By the way, as I noticed I totally dislike this layout (because I feel the urgent need for improvement) I will start working on a shiny new one). I just cannot keep my hands off ;-)
