Took a sneak peek
03
On Tuesday, March 18, the first release candidate for WordPress 2.5 was introduced, and me as a true fan, downloaded it to my test installation to see how it works. My special interest belonged to the new Media Library and the widgets panel. I dd some upload testing with the library, and there are obviously some difficulties, because after uploading a media file, there is no sucess message shown, but simply a white page. When closing it, the uploading is not performed, which means, it does not work. It DOES work in IE 7 though.
What makes me happy is the fact that one annoying thing has finally been fixed: Does anyone ever (when using the visual editor) see all div elements turn into p-Tags after wanting to edit the page again? I find this quite annoying, because the layout breaks with all the ps in it. This was why I deactivated the visual editor to write on the mere source code window. Now, I did some div testing in the editor of WP 2.5RC1 and the div stayed there when reopening the page with the visual editor. That made my day

I’ve been dying to see the new Wordpress, and from the screenshots, it looks amazing. I love that they’ve tried to make the interface more simple, and less bloated looking. It looks a lot like the ExpressionEngine interface, I think, but I could be wrong. I also love all the new features they’ve brought in, and I think it will be so much more powerful. I might wait a bit with actually using it, until it’s no longer a beta-version, but I’m definitely super excited
yeap indeed, wp 2.5 is dang cool!
Ooh I read about WP2.5 yeah, it looks great and so different! I can’t wait to try it! Is it safe to use it for your site now? Or should I wait till the full release? What do you think?
@Nanda: I think you should really choose the safe way and wait for the official release. That is what I do, too. I installed the RC on my local server only to see how it works.
I think I’m going to play it safe and wait for the stable release
I’m too cautious to do anything else…
OK thanks, I thought so too but I thought I’d might as well ask
Thanks for your reply! I’m really looking forward to see what has changed in WP 2.5
I downloaded the RC too, because I was very very curious to see the new features. While I like the new admin panel and how they’ve integrated Gravatars into the system, I’ve yet to try out the Media Library as it seems to have a lot of bugs at the moment.
But it’s certainly operating better than before.
