When surfing the Amazon Website today to check an order I placed yesterday, I saw they had put up a new layout for the site. I noticed it first when I thought that maybe I had surfed the wrong website…but no, really, it was Amazon. Introducing a big blue bar in the header section, that might be intended to give the site a more 2.0ish look. Whether I like it or not, I don’t know. Second, I always used to click on “my account”, which was placed on the upper right side of the header. The link is gone now and it took me quite a while to get to my account info. Let’s see, maybe I just need to get comfortable with it…
When changing to Amazon.com I discovered an ad for the new screen reading device “Kindle”, and I had to remember an old post of mine of 2006, when I talked about how I just could not imagine paperbooks vanishing from the earth. I enjoy the feeling of wrapping the plastic from a new book, then opening it and flipping my fingers over dozens of words, having a good time and afterwards putting it up on my bookshelf to read it again anytime I like. And what will the screenreader do? Beep when the battery needs to be reloaded?
I have been a member of Flickr for quite a long time and purchased a pro account about two months ago. Now I saw that every user can choose an individual adress for his photos, which has to be chosen wisely, because it cannot be changed afterwards. I got mine, too and now find it much easier to give my Flickr adress away to friends. By the way, my account contains the photos of my recent Gran Canaria Island holiday, so take a look…
