I feel autumn

Every year, again, I have that peculiar feeling when summer ends and autumn is showing its first signs. There are no leaves falling yet, still the sun is shining, but something changed. That something is hard to determine.

It can be compared with the feeling you have after having seen a film in cinema and leaving the dark room walking outside. It is the feeling that something is about to change. The air gets a different scent. Suddenly you feel it got colder. Not very much colder. But sufficient to not let you permit walking around in a T-shirt anymore. This is a time when I tend to get somewhat thoughtful about what I already accomplished so far this year, and what I did not achieve yet.

This time also brings new ideas and inspiration, and changes of habits. Dreaming of the sound of feet walking around in golden leaves that have fallen to the ground. Having cosy afternoons inside, drinking hot chocolate…

How do you feel about autumn?

I never heard someone put autumn in such perfect words!
I love the fall, it reminds me of being young. And those have always been my best memories. D

yeah, that’s a nice way to describe autumn, alright. just dropping by…

Beautiful description of the beginning of Autumn. It´s actually my favourite season of the year, just a shame that where I live there isn´t one ( I´ll try to get a glimpse of it in October in Madrid )

    You write really well.
Over here in the southern hemisphere though, it’s actually getting warmer because we’re coming into spring, so I can’t really make a relevant comment!

I can feel the same thing as you described. Even though it’s barely showing a lot of small things are different. I think it might be the air and the sun not being as warm as it used to be. I hate it because it’s the beginning of the end of the summer.

Autumn means birthday and lots of ‘em since we’re an autumn-born family ) I really like the smells outside, the ones you smell when you walk in a forest, and seeing all the pretty autumn colours makes my mood better. The cold makes me, well, cold! And when it gets dark it’s so depressing in contrast to our ever-light summers.

I love autumn… It’s a welcome break from the heat! And I get to wear arm socks, which is always fun. It’s my mom’s favorite season, so it makes me think of her. Which is comforting. I still feel the summer though )

Well, here in Vegas it’s still pretty hot. Hasn’t gotten cool enough for it to feel like autumn. I guess I ponder of what I’m doing with my life whenever I feel low and desperate. I never give much thought to any of the stations. I’ll probably put some thought to it this time, though, since you put it in my head. LOL. Nice site )

Very cute entry. I love autumn, but it also brings cold weather and that is the time where I get sick (like today).

Oh my goodness!! Me too!! I thought it was just me. These last two days we opened up the windows and turned the AC off… and it was just amazing, sleeping with the breeze coming through the room and hearing the outside noises. I live in Oklahoma, so it’s probably warmer than where you are. I’m so happy fall is on its way!

Autumn is my fav time of the year. It’s so pretty and colorful with all the leaves. It’s the only time a year you can wear a sweater and not be either to hot or to cold. I always go up to the mountains when it becomes Autumn because up there it’s even more beautiful. I just simply love Autumn!

I’d love to watch the seasons change someday. Though subtle, I feel that it can be quite an experience. While 75% of the world are currently experiencing season changes now, it’s still ever hot and humid here. Argh. -sweatdrop.

Oh, and did I mention that autumn’s my favourite season? Only experienced it once before in Japan when I was really young, and I was hooked since then.

Usually by this time of year, I am so weighted down with work I wouldn’t notice if it started snowing.

You’ve described it prettily though. Most of the time, I get thoughts like that in the beginning of summer.

i sorta hate the weather change because i love the nice warm weather. The only good thing about this season is my birthday lol

Britain went Winter, Spring, Autumn and now Winter as of today! We literally had no summer this year (

It’s been that energy-sapping, stay-in-bed chillness today that I haven’t felt since February!

The leaves have already fallen (along with conkers) and I desperately pray for the sun to stay out a little bit longer, just for a little more warmth.

    ;)

For me, autumn starts with the new school year. And although I like the season itself, with the cool weather and colourful leaves, it just reminds me that the dreaded cold winter is just around the corner.

For me, I know the season’s changing to fall/winter when I start having to wear a jacket. The leaves don’t change or anything, but where I am in Canada, it just goes straight to cold and windy (and, usually, rainy). That’s when we know that summer’s no longer here. It’s a rather brusque way for the weather to tell us it’s no longer summer, but it works, I guess.
