Sunday notes

As you can see, I recently indulged in a new saturday Wordpress redesign marathon and came up with a new theme for my blog and personal place. This design is also introducing a kind of logo for myself and for my work, which I kind of designed out of some photo of strawberries. Then I tried out to find the suiting colors and there it was, the new layout. I have to admit that I was not content with the layouts I made before, especially the last two ones. I did not seem to get where I wanted to get and it was annoying to see that I was lacking ideas and inspiration and the right way to accomplish a good design that reflects my presence on the web.
What I wanted to avoid was to have the same layout over and over again, with that crappy, miles long sidebar. What I wanted was:

  • Sidebar at the bottom of the site
  • One column in the midle featuring the recent entries
  • A font for the entries that is good to read and that looks attractive and fitting

There are still some items on my to do list:

  • Editing the appearance of the 404 and the search results site
  • Editing the appearance of the lists in the sidebar

You are kindly invited to write and tell me about your suggestions, praises and critics, as well as about observations you made when viewing the site with a certain browser. That is what really helps me a lot to bring my work forward. Thank you also for the comments on my site. I will go returning them during the next week.

Today is such a beautiful day with sun and a clear blue sky, so I took my camera and made a photo out of the window. Right now I can also hear the birds singing outside…Is this spring? I would hopefully like to say yes, but I am afraid the weather will change again. But let us enjoy this blue sky, this is what it is there for.
Sunday blue Sky

This entry is getting quite long, isn´t it? Well, maybe the sudden signs of spring and my happiness about the new layout squeeze the words right out of me. As you might know (or not) I am a big fan of my coffee pad machine. Some weeks ago I discovered new types of coffee pads for my pad machine in the supermarket. Pads flavoured with vanilla, caramel and so on. Quite expensive, but I don´t care. On the package of the pads, some tiny bonus coupons can be found, with 5 or ten points. Things is you can only exchange those coupons in the corresponding gift shops in the Netherlands. I am a lucky girl living in a neighbour country of the Netherlands. So I visited the giftshops website to find out where the nearest store is. It is in Groningen, 4 hours away in train. The trip would cost at least 56 Euros so I might consider ordering online. Maybe I will get to stumble through the site, struggling to understand Dutch…
Have a nice sunday!

P.S.: Greetings to David! As you can see, I included the search function again, as recommended by you…

Yay for new layouts! I like it a lot, and the organization. I’m also a big fan of the sidebar at the bottom, it looks good )

Yay for spring, too, and yay for the netherlands, haha. I want to visit sometime )

The layout looks good to me! I only quickly tested it in Firefox 1.5.0.10 though.

I love strawberries (if you’ve ever visited my blog, you’d know that, hehe because I wrote about it recently)… and Spring… yes, I’m so tired of Winter now. )

It looks wonderful in Firefox 2.0 Mmmm…strawberries…i’d love to have a few right now :P And the sky here [Poland] is clear and blue too. The weather is just awesome, I hope it will stay for a long time.

I love the new layout! Strawberries are my favorite.

The weather here is so nice right now, but it is supposed to be cold and rainy again here by the weekend though (

I realized I almost posted my comment on your last entry. Bad Musme… Anyway, nice layout. I love the strawberries logo. So sexy LOL… The big blue boxy thing at the bottom kind of surprised me; don’t know why, but it did. I need a new layout. Mine is the clichéd looking one with a mile-long side bar. Hahaha… I guess you must really love coffee… ) The weather here in Vegas is getting freaking hot… Yesterday we were @ 87F, which would be… mmm… 31C… It’s not bad seeing as summers it gets close to 50C… Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts D

The layout looks good in the latest version of Camino (caminobrowser.com) which is a Mac-only browser, if that gives you any piece of mind. )

Your layout looks great! I love the colors, it certainly seems like spring is on your page, I do wish it was outside though. Good luck with your coupons! I hope you can get through it online, 4 hours is a long train ride.

Ugh. I can never pull off a layout with too much colors going around. My current layout is actually the first time I used more than 3 colors, and it looks awful. *sighs* Oh well, I’ll leave the designing to people like you who know what they’re doing. D

I like the layout, especially its unusual Web 2.0-ey look. However, the Flickr photos are distracting because it takes up too much vertical space. Maybe listing them horizontally will be more practical? I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.2 on 1024×768 screen resolution, and there’s a horizontal scrollbar. Uhm, I’ve refreshed my browser a couple of times to see if your site loaded correctly, but it’s still there. o_O I don’t think anyone else has mentioned it, so I’m not really sure…. ^_^

Beautiful scenery, I must say. Maybe Spring really is just around the corner *crosses fingers* Not that we have spring here in the Philippines, boo. LOL. Coffee pads, pad machine, I’m at loss. I’m sorry, I don’t really know much about those things, hehe.

    Take care!

For the bottom I’d suggest diving all of the links and things into three columns, so it doesn’t take up as much room length-wise.
