A phobia (from the Greek φόβος “fear”), is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities, or persons. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive, unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. When the fear is beyond one’s control, or if the fear is interfering with daily life, then a diagnosis under one of the anxiety disorders can be made.

This excerpt from Wikipedias article about phobias. Yesterday, two of my main phobias reached their peak again. Here we go:

1. Cash dispenser-o phobia

It began about 3 years ago, when I tried to withdraw money from a cash dispenser in Spain. It was about 400 Euros. I did not get that money out of the machine, but it was marked as minus on my account. Luckily, some days later the sum was cancelled and booked as a failed transfer, but the anxiety is what remains. Everytime I am using a cash dispenser I get nervous when the whole process lasts a little longer, or when the card is not returned immediately.

The day before yesterday a cash dispenser returned my bank card saying “card invalid”. It turned out that the card is damaged, but this really made me get nervous.

2. The “loosing things o phobia”

I am afraid of loosing things and I check my bag every five minutes for my purse, my keys, my phone and things. It made me get veeeerrrryyyy nervous when on Friday morning I did not fin the key to my office at work. I sought desperetely through all corners (nearly all) of my backpack but was not sucessful.

How it ended: On saturday the card decided working again and the key turned out to be hidden in one small edge of my backpack….well…

Oh boy, phobias. Everyone has them! :P Haha. My main phobia is claustrophobia, and I get pretty nervous especially when I am in a tight, enclosed space.
