Updates and changes

As you can probably see, I changed the theme structure a little, getting the welcome text from the sidebar into the index page. I thought the text in the sidebar was somewhat small and needed to be rewritten too.
I also changed the preview images in the Mini Gallery section, because the old ones were messed up and included more of the icons I downloaded from Famfamfam.com. They are so great.
Did I already mention that I love my laptop? Yes, it seems to be nothing new, but I just love walking into the library, opening the bag, plugging the power thing (How is that called in English?) into the power supply and then starting to work on my thesis. Work is going much more efficiently and faster too. Yesterday I completed about 3 pages written into a Word document.
Sitting there, I had another one of my future visions. I sat back for a moment, watching the large shelves covered with the tons of books. I love the scent of the paper and running my fingers over the pages of a book while discovering its content. I thought that in some years, also books will be digitalized and the students will not find paper books, but electronic ones in the shelves. They plug their cable into a book and the desired pages are transferred onto their laptop or PDA.
Although I have those ideas in my head, I am not fond of seeing all books disappear in favour of electronic ones. Enjoy your weekend;-)

I spy a new design here (again). :P Hehe. I tend to have fetishes for anything floral-related, but that is not the main reason why I love this one. I just love how everything fits together so nicely.
As for me, I love my desktop computer more than I love my laptop. :P
I completely agree. (And am I the only one who can’t learn from reading text from a screen?) I’ve always loved the smell of books too. Whether it be a new smell, or a musty smell of an old book, it’s always so nice.
Laptops are amazing, I love mine so much. I don’t know how I ever lived with a desktop. I couldn’t imagine a world where all books were digital … what if there was some kind of massive system crash and everything was lost? I’d … die. Yes, I’m pretty sure lack of literature would kill me :P
ANSWERING BRENDA: Thanks a lot
I can’t imagine a world without books. Electronic books are convenient, yes, but books are so much more personal and memorable. You can’t give someone an electronic book for their birthday. It loses the special meaning behind it.
Unfortunately I can also see this happening in the not so distant future. I cant learn reading from a moniter, I need a book. I need to be able to lay in the backyard, sunning myself, reading a murder mystery, or lounging in the bath reading a silly vampire love story from Mary Janice Davidson.
I agree with Natasha. Not having books would kill me.
I wish I had a laptop! So I could sit in bed while on the computer, it’d bring my laziness to another level!
I know what you mean about the smell of books. I really need to read more often, i’m just not sure what to read. I guess I judge books by their covers too often.
I hope that books in their current form stay around for a long time, cause there is nothing better than settling down in bed and reading a good book. =]
xx.
That is one of my biggest fears, that we’ll lose paper texts. I love my collection of books so much, that I can’t bear to think of how I’d feel if they just became digital. I love the feel of the paper on my fingers and the ease of being able to bring a book with me anywhere…
I don’t think hard copies of novels/books will ever completely phase out - they’ve had their place in society for thousands of years that I don’t think even technology, in all it’s efficiency can ever entirely replace. Personally, I’ve always coveted a library of books in their hard copy form, simply because.
Haha wow futuristic. If that happens though, I’d seriously get really depressed ‘cos I love holding books and all…compared to reading them on the pc screen.
plugging the plug into the power supply?
bit of a tongue twister though, i think i prefer your version!
i like books! it wouldn’t be the same if they were digitalized.
i find it hard to read novels, because i’m suposed to wear reading glasses, but they’re never worked . if anything they just make things worse, so i end up with a headache whilst reading.
so now i like picture books. the ones about vinyl toys, graffiti and even sneakers!
very pretty site by the way.
Your new layout is very cute and I like it a lot. I like pink;) Yes, it would be dreadful if all paper books disappeared! I would cry over my pillow every night;) since I couldn’t get to sleep easily without reading some books or I would say “holding” some books, hehehe… Your imagination sure is very wild
[...] Amazon.com I discovered an ad for the new screen reading device “Kindle”, and I had to remember an old post of mine of 2006, when I talked about how I just could not imagine paperbooks vanishing from the earth. I [...]
