The last days including today I was wondering why I did not receive the usual Despair.nu comment emails. I logged into my account to find that it had been deactivated, and I was not the one who did that….Strange things that are happening. I reactivated the account and hope it will work again.
As I am currently looking for a job (I will be finishing my studies in July) I came across an online job search page, which searches many other job pages all at once. When looking at the offers I find it astounding how many companies prefer the online job application. And this in my opinion, is certainly a good idea. The online application method causes less expenses that would be due when sending it via snail mail, such as costs for Paper, those special folders, shipping and of course the photos I give away aytime I send such an application. Some companies send the papers back, but some do not. Good for me to have all stuff scanned in PDF format to be sent via email.
Many companies provide a special online application form, where all relevant data can be added and files, such as a CV and be attached before sending the application.
A big plus to those companies whose application forms are cross-Browser compatible, and work in more browsers than the IE, but not every company got this far yet.
Online application also brings advantages for the companies, as less paper will be stuffed on their desks and the data can be processed more easily. If acessibility and security are given, the online application is a good step towards your next job.

I am absolutely scared to read that in a school in Berlin a teacher was attacked by a twelve year old pupil when trying to solve an argument. For the german-speaking visitors: Read the news.
After similar occurrences in the past weeks, measures against violence are beeing discussed, starting off by integrating questions of foreign students. My opinion is, the whole thing should be seen not only from the immigration issue, but more generally. Violence is not only executed by foreign students, and violence can also be nonverbal. I could tell dozens of stories…
Speaking of jobs, I am still unemployed.
Haha. But yes, the itnernet has made it a whole lot easier to apply for a job these days. Although I must say, there are still quite a lot of ‘jobs’ that hasn’t gone online yet. So perhaps the situation might improve in the coming years? :P Heh.

About violence in schools, it is the other way round in Singapore. It is not the students being violent but rather, the teachers.

I am still a junior now but I will be facing the same job hunting problem in a year’s time. I am even a little afraid of that. I hope you will find a satisfying job, and then share your work experience with us

Yupz, the applying through internet is easy, as long as the company keeps it updated!
The concept of Despair.nu irks me. Not the exchange of comments per se, but rather that random strangers visit, and are forced to comment regardless of whether they actually want to. I don’t know, I think it loses the sincerity of the comment somewhat in many cases.
Job applications - I hope yours goes well. Stepping into some wordly experience is awesome.

I love online applications too…Its the only way I can apply for a job in my pajamas! And they work just as well. Infact I just had a job interview for a job I applied online for! Take care! Keep up the good work with the site!
